  My Thoughts on Health Care

I understand that politics is a pretty heated topic right now and that there are not many more talked about subjects than health care, but I decided I have to get my thoughts in about the potential health care system under Obamas office.

Let me get this out of the way first- I respect President Obama. I think his financial ideas are completely backwards and are either going to blow up in his face or cause this country to plunge deep into an uncontrollable spiral, but I respect the fact that he has done EXACTLY what he said he would do during his campaign.

I was shocked that people were listening to what he was saying and agreeing, but he has followed what he said. He never said he would pull out of the war. He said he would put us in Afghanistan. He said he would spend A LOT of taxpayer money, and he has. So keeping in mind that I respect the man for what he has done (not necessarily the idea behind them), Ill delve into the health care subject.

If I understand correctly, Obama wants to make health care in this country a government run enterprise. Does anyone else not see how this is a step in the direction of socialization? How can a government run health care? They arent doctors. In fact the only thing a government can do well is protect us from other countries because they HAD to get good at that or we wouldnt be a country today. They dont have to be good at health care and thus will give health care to those who they deem need it. Well as great and as fun loving as that sounds the people who are ultimately paying for it, the taxpayers and more importantly those who pay 90% of the taxes (the top 10%). Think about a country that tells one portion of its population to pay for the rest AND to keep working as hard as they do. Those people will ultimately rebel in some way or another and everything will turn into anarchy.

In other countries where medicine is socialized the system is a joke. My dads father had a condition that needed treated immediately. My dads friends father had the exact same condition in England where they have free health care. My grandpa got treatment the next day. The other guy had to wait 6 months and eventually died. If health care is freeeveryone will be in line for it. As cold as it sounds, not being able to afford health care is a good thing for those who can. Unless there can be a utopian society in which everything is free and everyone still works as hard as if it wasnt, socialized medicine will never work.

Of course thats just my opinion, I could be wrong.
