(Burn fat exercises) Is Music Truly that Important in Healthy Living?
No commentsBy FutureSounds
ealthy living is generally defined by how physically healthy you are, correct? For example, if you are sick or have a cold, you are considered not healthy. If you have a life changing disease such as cancer or H.I.V., you are not healthy. But does that mean that it is all physical? No Way! Your well being is also determined by your mental health. Ponder this, the kind of music you listen to generally affects your personality type. Look at this great example: I I used to listen to Hard Rock and was extremely wild, mischievous, energetic, and fun! Today I am more mature, I listen to softer music and I am more calm, laid back, carefree, and less energetic.
Now focus on music and setting the mood. Again, going back to the heavy rock, how does that make you feel when you listen to it? I can tell you based on experience that metal music gets my adrenaline rushing, my foot pounding, my head pulsing. It kicks me into overdrive! Now, how do you feel when you listen to light music? Let us go to the opposite side of the spectrum and use classical music as an example. If you are listening to a song composed by Beethoven, how do you feel? I am generally feeling very upper scale, sophisticated, makes me feel like learning, opening a book, become a better person. It puts me in a totally different mindset. What does it do for your mindset?
Why would this make you live a healthier life? The correct kind of music could help your mood and personality improve, creating a positive and happy outlook on life. It is a proven fact that a happier person lives longer and is healthier than someone who is always concerned about something, upset, and unhappy. The body was not made to deal with stress all the time. That is where disease comes from. Look at the word, dis ease. That means there is not ease in the body, stress can be the cause. Music could be the cure.
Music can be a great enjoyment for all involved. How wonderful do you feel when you hear your favorite song come on the iPod or radio? How do you feel when you hear a song you do not like? Completely opposite right?
Let us discuss movies. What about horror movies, what kind of music do they play? Most play really creepy high pitched, fast paced creepy music, others have gotten smart and play NOTHING musically. This is smart because mentally, with no music, your mind plays tricks on you. Do you recall the movie The Blair Witch Project? It was a very low budget flick, and done with little to no soundtrack. Somehow it still had the capability of being one of the most watched and popular horror movies of its time.
What about your movies that make you happy? Next time you get a chance, watch Disneys Enchanted? It is a musical all in its own that has light, soft, jump in the street, kiss your neighbor, charming music. It makes you feel extremely caring and uncharacteristically in the mood to sing in the streets. The writers knew what they were doing with this. As with most Disney movies the soundtrack is key. It puts the movie watches in the mood and gives them something to look forward to.
What about action movies, what type of music do they focus on? Would you say fast paced rock, techno, heavy music? Look at one of the all time great action movies The Matrix. The theme song is a bass guitar with a fast paced riff. It puts me in the mind frame to conquer the world! Not the most positive attitude, but still, makes me happy for the time being.
What does all this music stuff have to do with being healthy? Find out what makes you happy and concentrate your efforts on that sort of music. Do not attempt to trick yourself; you know what it is that makes you feel good. Enjoy this knowledge that you now posess on living just a little bit healthier with music and share this with your friends.
If you like this article, you should think about indulging in music a little more.
The Fear Of Test Is Known As Test Anxiety
By Jocelyn Snider
Test anxiety is common to students and can be a motivator to study harder or can be a big problem if starting to affect performance.
In the life of every student, exams are usually one of the stressful events to go through. Most often than not, we feel anxious every time examination periods are about to come. It is normal for most students to experience some levels of anxiety during exams. It common to all the students and I am sure that we had our own share of anxiety during exams, hadn’t we? Anxiety is a human’s natural response to a stressful situation. The test anxiety can become a powerful motivator; it can make you study harder to be able to excel. But, if this test anxiety starts to affect exam performance it has become a problem.
The symptoms of test anxiety are but not limited to:
Physical - headaches, nausea, or diarrhea, extreme body temperature changes, excessive sweating, shortness of breath, light-headedness or fainting, rapid heart beat, and/dry mouth, tense muscle
Emotional - excessive feelings of disappointment, anger, depression, uncomfortable crying or laughing
Behavioral - fidgeting, pacing, substance abuse, avoidance
Cognitive - racing thoughts, going blank, difficulty concentrating, negative self-talk, feelings of dread, comparing yourself to others, difficulty organizing your thoughts.
The probable causes of test anxiety can be lack of preparation indicated by cramming the night before the exam, poor time management, failure to organize text information, poor study habits; or, worrying about previous performance on exams, how other students are doing, the negative consequences of failure.
For the better part, there are several techniques that can be done to control your test anxiety, and these are:
-Preparation - study and know the material well enough so that you can still recall even if you are under stress, develop good study habits, get enough rest, exercise, attend classes regularly and complete all assignments, participate in all practical tests
-Keep a positive attitude - develop logical expectations, do not allow your grades affect the outcome of your exams, avoid negative and devastating results, set up a system of reward to yourself for good results, encourage yourself.
-Relaxation techniques - proper breathing exercises, imagery and visualization, muscle relaxation techniques can help increase your concentration, don’t come too early for you might get distracted, and make sure you have everything you need
I n times when you start feeling overwhelmed or when the fear comes, just pause and do the proper breathing techniques as they can help you calm down, and then keep focus on the present. Don’t try to eliminate your fear totally, just keep it manageable. Convince yourself that you can shake away your fear. Divert your attention or thoughts from fear, or find something to keep fear out of your mind.
There are several factors that can affect the efficiency of you study time. Make sure that your place of study is quiet, no interruptions, comfortable, clean, well facilitated, and with comfortable temperature. A study without distractions can make you concentrate more; therefore, test anxiety can be lessen if not eliminated.
Test anxiety can be successfully managed depending on the level of your willingness. If your mindset is having control over your anxiety, your chances to success is great!
